Water Safety
We have a responsibility to ensure your property is safe and free from health hazards in terms of water management. Legionella bacteria is common in natural water (such as rivers & ponds), however it can also grow in other water systems.
We will carry out yearly cleaning to common water tanks, we regularly maintain and test these for legionnaires disease and bacteria and maintain our records for a minimum of 5 years. Where possible we are bypassing water tanks and connecting properties to the mains water supply and thereby minimising the risk of infection. We also replace shower heads in every Void property.
For more information, please see our Legionella Policy – See here
Your responsibilities
- Regularly clean and disinfect water outlets – taps & shower heads
- Inform us if your hot water is not heating properly
- Advise us if you will be leaving the property for an extended period and ensure water outlets are flushed (left to run) when you are back home for at least 10 minutes
- If water becomes discoloured, you experience a drop in pressure or your supply is cut off please contact Scottish Water on 0800 0778778 and advise them of the issue
